Predicting future low voltage loads: extension of a method for optimised energetic building retrofitting using deep reinforcement learning
At CIRED Vienna 2024, we published a research paper presenting a deep reinforcement learning (RL) framework aimed at improving the energy efficiency of residential buildings. The presented framework simulates low-voltage load profiles by investigating retrofit options, taking into account uncertainties arising from decentralised renewable systems and climate factors. The RL model enables the derivation of high-resolution load profiles and a forecasting tool for future grid scenarios that supports stable and sustainable grid operation.

Service Resilience: Strategies to Prevent Cascading Failures in Large-Scale Distributed Systems
In the fast-paced world of technology, large Internet service providers like Google and Amazon strive to expand rapidly while maintaining a widely distributed system. Ensuring reliable service operations is exceptionally relevant to these industry leaders, yet they occasionally experience significant setbacks. System failures can lead to widespread outages that ultimately impact the customer experience and weaken confidence in their system capabilities. […]
